Oh Happy Day! (#2)

Oh Happy Day!!!!

Oh Happy Day!  Can you hear me singing?  The 1st graders were blessed by having two parents come in and help me in the garden today.  Wendy Gasch and Candice Hodges-Palmer.  It was a great time.  Lots of muddy, smiley kiddos!  Here are some kids planting potatoes.  Thank you, Candice for taking the pictures!  :)  Sorry I didn't get a picture of every student!

8th graders to the rescue!

I was so happy today when some of the 8th grade girls offered to skip GYM and help me with the 2nd graders in the garden.  It was clear they had done this before (yes, they remembered from planting previous years &/or in their home gardens).  I was so thankful!  I know that the 2nd graders loved having their help as well!

Below are two pictures:  The first one is some of the kids planting marigolds.  The second picture is a picture of "Caden's Corner".  His big sister, Kara (8th grader), helped the 2nd graders plant purple pansies in "his" corner.

Picture #2

Picture showing the whole garden...

We are alive and well!

Hey everyone!  I am so sorry that I have not updated this in so long.  Over the weekend, former student Brad Stram (and his family) built raised beds for the garden.  This was his Eagle Scout project.  I can hardly wait to get my fingers in the dirt!  :)  I hope to keep pictures more up-to-date, but don't hold me to it!  Take care, Kim

Saturday, July 16th

Tomato plants (little puny, but hopefully will come around if we keep them watered)

Carrots

Cucumbers and green peppers

New flowers (in the prior pea bed) and radish row in the bottom right corner

Caden's corner with some new flowers

New flowers

Lettuce and green beans

I went to Jung's this morning and bought some of their discounted annuals with my Jung's dollars. Nothing looked very good, but hopefully with some TLC these flowers will go crazy and look beautiful for the festival. :) (Can't hurt to hope.)

You may have noticed that we have many potted plants in the garden. One of our former students started all these plants on his apartment patio and ran out of room. He asked both Fr. Schmitt and I if he could add them into our garden. Please don't weed anything in these pots. Thank you!

PLEASE feel free to stop in and snip some lettuce (plenty!), and pull some green beans and carrots. Between Diane Neal and her son, Payton, and I we reseeded more spinach, beets and radishes. There will be plenty of cucumbers and tomatoes soon! :)
